Sry everyone, I know that I stopped in the middle of the best part, so here it is, continued:
I grabbed the box quickly from Peyton's hand and tore it open, taking out that weird little stick thing that you're supposed to pee on. Peyton shut the door to give me some privacy and I did what I needed to. I sat on the counter and waited for the results. It felt like I was waiting for some book to come out and I was standing in a line at 11 o'clock pm, thinking that every minute went by slowly until midnight when the book would finally be in my hands.
Then, it came.
I nearly fell off of the counter, but instead I screamed inwardly. I didn't want to worry Jason that I had cut myself or something, or maybe have Peyton think there was a spider on the wall and have to run and get a broom and Caleb. I walked out of the bathroom like a zombie, pale white with glazed over eyes. Peyton tore the pee-stick from my hand and gasped. Jason just stood in the corner, frozen solid and becoming just as pale as I was. Leaning against the wall, I slid down into a curled position on the floor and bowed my head, resting it against my knees. My hands were placed on my stomach and I tried to breathe without bursting into tears.
On that cursed little stick appeared a little devil called a +.
Jason walked over to Peyton's side, took one glance at the stick, and took my curled up body into his carring hands, and just held me close to him. We were both curled up together on the floor, leanning against the wall, while Peyton still stood there, holding the stick in her shaking hand. Finally, after 987 secounds of torchuring silence, Peyton walked into the bathroom, threw the stick away, and walked out of my bedroom.
The next couple days were silent. Even Katarina didn't say a word to me or anyone. Everyone spoke in a whisper, but abruptly were silent whenever Jason or I walked into the room, both in our zombie state. The one person who did actually speak, was Caleb. But he didn't speak to me, he spoke to Jason. It was dinner on the 4th day of silence that he broke.
"What the hell were you thinking Jason!" Caleb exclaimed. "You knew that it was possible for our kind to have kids. If it wasn't, I wouldn't be here! Why didn't you protect Phoebe from something like this?"
I flushed red and Jason, already in his 'I'm going to blame myself for this whole thing' state of mind, bowed his head.
"They used a condom stupid," Ethan translated from my inward thoughts.
I knew he hated speaking for me, but I couldn't find my voice. I stood up from the table and walked upstairs. I heard footsteps following me, and I assumed that it was Jason. I walked into our bedroom and into the bathroom.
"Take it again," came Peyton's voice as she handed me another box.
I sighed.
"Would it make any difference. I'm pregnant," I whispered.
"You might not be. It could have just been a food baby. When someone is pregnant, they're really emotional, and you, well, you're just a zombie; that's not normal," Peyton explained.
I looked at her, and grabbed the box. I took the test again and walked back into the bedroom to wait with Peyton. Finally, to my surprise, the test came back negative. It felt like a million pounds had been lifted off of my shoulder. This time, I did actually scream, but out of joy. Peyton smiled and everyone ran upstairs. Jason was the first through the door.
"What is it? What's wrong?" Jason exclaimed.
I was crying and laughing at the same time.
"Why are you crying?" Jason asked in a worried tone.
I showed him the stick, the beautiful blue - sign on the little screen. Jason's color returned to his face and he smiled at me. He hugged me, so much harder then he ever had before. We were both so relieved, so happy that I wasn't pregnant, that we weren't parents, yet.
The others came in and Peyton told them the good news. That night was a night of celebration and relief. Well, the other's celebrated; Jason and I just stayed in our room. Jason was still holding me and we were both breathing, still exhaling relief, waiting for every emotion to just mellow out. We fell asleep like that, and by morning we were both back to normal (well, as normal as we could get).
Ok, so that's the story. Hope you enjoyed it :]
